Good to know

Questions, answered straight

The things people most often ask before booking a move with us. If yours isn’t here, the contact page has our details — we’re happy to help.

Getting a quote

How do I get a quote?

Fill in the quote form with a few details about your move and we’ll email you a written quote. You can also reach us via the contact page if you’d rather talk first.

Is the quote free, and am I committed to anything?

The quote is free and there’s no obligation. We’d rather you had a clear price to weigh up than felt pushed into booking. Take your time.

How are your prices worked out?

From three things: the volume of what’s moving, the distance it’s travelling, and the access at both ends — stairs, parking, loading. Because every move differs on those, we quote each one individually rather than posting a standard figure.

Do you offer a survey before quoting?

Yes, and for bigger moves it’s worth it. We can do a quick video walk-round or visit in person, so the quote reflects what’s really there rather than a guess.

Home & business moves

Do you handle big family-home moves?

Gladly — it’s a lot of what we do. Southall has many large family homes with plenty to move, and we bring the right crew and a big enough van, plus the muscle for wardrobes, white goods and heavy items.

Can you move a shop or business on The Broadway?

Yes — shop and business moves are a speciality. The Broadway’s retail means tight loading and busy hours, so we plan around your trading times and the parking to keep disruption low.

Do you move single rooms or small loads?

Of course. Not every move is a whole house — a single room, a few big pieces, a student move. Tell us what and where and we’ll size the job to match.

Will you dismantle and rebuild furniture?

We do — beds, wardrobes, flat-pack and the like, dismantled at one end and reassembled at the other so you’re not left with a puzzle on the first night.

On the day

What about parking and loading on The Broadway?

We’re used to it. Loading around The Broadway and the markets takes planning — the traffic, the bays, the restrictions — so we sort van placement and, where needed, a parking suspension with the council ahead of time.

Can you handle narrow stairs and tight access?

Yes. Terraces and flats above shops often mean narrow stairs and tight turns. We bring the right crew and kit, protect the walls and floors, and take furniture apart where it won’t go up whole.

Do you protect carpets and floors?

Yes. We use coverings and blankets to protect floors, doorways and the furniture itself, at both the old place and the new one.

Packing & storage

Can you pack everything for me?

If you’d like. We offer a full pack, a part pack, or fragile-only — your choice. We bring proper materials and label an inventory so unpacking is straightforward.

Do you supply boxes and materials?

Yes — boxes, tape, paper, bubble wrap and specialist cartons for the tricky items. Whether you pack or we do, you won’t be scrabbling for supermarket boxes.

What if my dates don’t line up?

We can fold storage into the same booking — your things go into a clean, dry unit for the in-between, then we deliver when the new place is ready.

Around Southall

Which areas do you cover?

Southall itself (UB1, UB2) plus Norwood Green, Dormers Wells and the Havelock area toward the station. We also move people to and from the wider West London area.

Do I need to tell the council when I move?

Yes — you’ll want to update your council tax when you move in or out, and register at your new address. If you’re moving within the area it’s a change-of-address; if you’re leaving, you close the old account and open one with your new council. It’s quick to do online.

Are you insured?

We carry goods-in-transit and public liability cover on every move, local or international. We’ll talk through the cover so you know where you stand before you book.

Moving to Europe

Which countries do you move to?

Four: France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. Each has a dedicated guide under European removals with the route and customs detail.

Do you handle the customs paperwork?

We do. Since Brexit, moving household goods into the EU needs declarations on both sides and usually a transfer-of-residence claim. We prepare the transit and clearance paperwork and tell you which documents to gather.

Can I send just part of a household abroad?

Yes. Part loads travel consolidated with other moves on the same route, inventoried and protected the same as a full load — a sensible option for smaller European moves.

Ready to move? Let’s go.

Tell us about your move and we’ll send a written quote — big move or small, we’ll look after it. No obligation, no pressure.
